Grant-Making Procedures

APPLICATION
Applicants should propose their project and its objectives to a Curriculum Facilitator and Principal or Director for review prior to completing a written application to ensure the potential project is appropriate for the Foundation’s grant program.

Applicants must fill out a Grant Application Form in its entirety, stating the project’s objectives, staff involved, time line and expected outcomes. A Grant Request Budget Form must also be completed when submitting an application.

Grant applications must be submitted no later than the first day of the established grant cycle months – September, February or May – in order to be considered for approval at the subsequent Board meeting. A grant application may be submitted up to 6 months prior to the cycle for which it is intended.

Completed applications should be sent electronically to efg@greendale.k12.wi.us, and must include the signature page. The Board will not review incomplete applications.

REVIEW
A five-person Grant Committee reviews grant applications. The committee reviews all elements of grant applications and, if necessary, may interview the applicant(s), Curriculum Director, and/or Principal/Director for clarification or more information.

The Grant Committee has the authority to approve grant requests under $500 without the full Board’s approval as long as funds are available.

AWARDS
Grant awards are voted upon and approved by the full Board based on the Grant Committee’s review and recommendations. Grants will be awarded in conjunction with regularly scheduled Board meetings. Applicants will be notified of the Board’s decision in writing within one week following the meeting at which the Board voted.

PROGRESS/EVALUATION
Grant recipients are required to submit a brief written progress report, including an accounting of expenditures and an evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the program, within 6 months of implementation of the grant to the Grant Committee. Failure to do so may result in denial of future grant requests. The Board reserves the right to monitor the progress of a project any time during the grant period.
